| New Service
Requirements
Welcome to Beltrami Electric Cooperative. In
order to make the installation of your new electric service easier, we
have outlined the process for applying for a new service.
The following steps must be completed before a
new service installation can be scheduled.
1. Complete the following forms:
- Membership Application
(download now)
- New Service Application
(download now)
- Right-of-Way Easement - you must
furnish a copy of the deed to the property. Tax statements are not
acceptable.
2. Acquire proof of assigned
address
You must acquire an address from the county in which you live. This
is required by county ordinance for all townships with the exception
of the Red Lake Reservation.
3. The following fees must be paid:
- Membership: $50
- Setup fee (non-refundable): $350
plus $22.75 tax
- Deposit: $225 residential, $500
commercial
4. Create a right-of-way
corridor
Your driveway, including a 10-foot corridor to either side, must
be in place before scheduling a staking appointment for your new
service. 5. Call to
schedule a staking appointment
The driveway and 10-foot corridor on either side must be in, the
fees must be paid and the easement must be signed before
calling. Please have in mind where your other utilities are or
will be located. Call 218-444-2540 or 1-800-955-6083 between 8
a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays to schedule a staking appointment at
your service location.
6. Obtain a meter loop and submit the state Homeowner Request
for Electrical Inspection form
The meter loop must be assembled and installed at the site
and
the state
Homeowner Request for Electrical Inspection form must be signed and submitted to
Beltrami Electric, along with the $41 inspection fee, prior to
scheduling the installation of your new service. Checks must be
made payable to the MN Department of Labor. If an electrical
contractor is performing the installation for you, it is the
contractor’s responsibility to submit the Homeowner Request for
Electrical Inspection form
and associated fee on your behalf.
Wiring Systems
An additional charge of $350 plus tax will be required if the meter
loop is not assembled and installed at time of construction.
7. Schedule your installation
Upon completion of the above six steps, contact Beltrami
Electric at 218-444-2540 or 1-800-955-6083 to schedule the
installation of your new electric service. The cooperative is
not responsible for damages to private facilities such as cable
TV, private electrical, water, sewer, telephone, gas or
sprinkler system lines. It is the owner’s responsibility to
locate and expose their private facilities before construction
takes place. Any water lines buried deeper than 48 inches do not
have to be exposed. If no locate has been acquired by the
private landowner, the cooperative shall bear no liability if
such lines are damaged during construction. |
