New Member Information

Welcome to your electric cooperative.  When you applied for electric service, you became a member-owner of Beltrami Electric Cooperative (BEC), joining more than 17,000 members who share in BEC's ownership.

BEC is a not-for-profit utility, created to provide electricity to its members.  The Cooperative's governing body, its Board of Directors, is elected from among BEC's members.  Throughout our 75 years of service, our sincere commitment to providing reliable electricity an excellent customer service, at cost, has remained constant.  We make every decision based upon these four core values: integrity, accountability, commitment to community and innovation.

If you have not yet signed up to become a member of Beltrami Electric Cooperative, we offer three ways to start the application process:

1. By Phone:  Call our friendly member service representatives. Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m at (218) 444-2540 or toll-free (800) 955-6083.

  • You must call at least one (1) business day prior to the day you are requesting the power be turned on (under normal circumstances). If a service doesn't have active power, a reconnection fee will be required prior to the service being reconnected.

  • Have your driver's license or government issued i.d. as well as a social security card on hand.

  • You may be asked for a deposit if your credit check or previous Beltrami Electric account pay history requires (pay by phone options available).

  • If we are unable to verify identity or information by phone, you may be asked to come into the office.

2.  In Person:  Our office is located at 4111 Technology Drive NW, Bemidji, MN. Walk-in office hours are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday -Friday.

  • Bring in your lease or purchase agreement along with a valid photo id (driver's license, passport, etc.) and social security card.

  • You will be required to pay a membership fee of $50 if you don't have an active account.

  • Pay your deposit, if required. (Pay by cash, check, money order, credit/debit card)

3.  Online:  Request service online by following the links listed below:

  • Complete and print and return this Membership Application and return to our office. 

  • If you are moving into a location that already has an existing electric service with Beltrami Electric, please complete the Moving In form here.
