Project Green Touch

Lake Bemidji State Park hosts 20th annual Project GreenTouchGroup photo of volunteers from 2019 Project GreenTouch

Cool and wet weather couldn’t stop over 40 Beltrami Electric Cooperative members, friends and park staff to help beautify Lake Bemidji State Park on Saturday, May 4, as part of Project GreenTouch.   The 20th annual event, presented by Minnesota’s Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives, saw volunteers rake leaves, clean roadside ditches, collect large sticks and braches for an eagle-nest project to be held in June and more, all in preparation for the 2019 season.

Statewide, volunteers representing numerous cooperatives volunteered to join together for the coordinated State Park cleanup effort.  Over the past 20 years, thousands of people have worked tens of thousands of hours, providing a great service to the parks people enjoy all summer long.

Minnesota’s Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives participating in Project GreenTouch are part of a group of rural electric cooperatives throughout the state.  Touchstone Energy® is a co-brand used by cooperatives all over the nation to market what local electric cooperatives stand for:  - Integrity, Accountability, Community Involvement and Innovation.  The state park sponsorship fits well with the Touchstone Energy® commitment.

Project GreenTouch is held each year on the first Saturday in May.  If you would like to volunteer, contact us at 218-444-2540, 1-800-955-6083 or alyseng@beltramielectric.com.   (You need not be a member to volunteer-everyone is welcome!)

Project GreenTouch is a collaboration of Minnesota Touchstone Energy Cooperatives who join together with their electric cooperative employees and members to volunteer in various parks throughout the state. Beltrami Electric Cooperative volunteers locally at Lake Bemidji State Park, where we work together on projects like planting trees, cleaning trails and campgrounds, raking leaves and provide general cleanup.

Every electric cooperative that participates in Project GreenTouch is a member of Minnesota's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, a collection of rural electric cooperatives throughout the state that have the same values.  Touchstone Energy is a co-brand shared by cooperatives across the nation to convey what electric cooperatives stand for: Integrity, Accountability, Community Involvement and Innovation.

GreenTouch Day, and the sponsorship of Minnesota State Parks and Trails, fit will with the Touchstone Energy commitment.  GreenTouch officially launched in 2000, and since then nearly 9,000 people have volunteered more than 32,000 hours to help beautify our state parks!
