Whether you’re replacing your system or building new, an air-source heat pump offers the perfect balance of comfort and savings, for both our hot summers and our cold winters. The technology has advanced rapidly and is now powerful enough for our weather here in northern Minnesota. SAVE MONEY WITH AN AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP/MINI SPLIT HEAT PUMP
Unlike a furnace, an air-source heat pump doesn’t burn fuel to make heat. It simply uses electricity to move heat from one place to another. Think of an air-source heat pump as a heat transporter constantly moving warm air from one place to another, to where it’s needed or not needed, depending on the season. Even cold air contains some heat. When it’s cold outside a heat pump extracts this outside heat and transfers it inside. When it’s warm outside, it reverses direction and acts like an air conditioner, removing heat from your home.
Benefits
Super energy efficient
Heat pumps work just like an air conditioner but use the reverse process to warm your home when it’s cold. It’s a heating system and A/C in one. ASHPs are up to 300% efficient – helping you save on your energy costs.
Easy installation, low maintenance
You can find an ASHP to fit nearly any size of home, and your contractor will have no problem with the easy installation. If you don’t have ductwork in your home, consider the ductless option of a Mini-Split Heat Pump.
All-in-one heating and cooling solution
ASHPs provide comfort nearly all year long – they will not only cool your home in the summer, but they also provide supplemental heat in the winter. The technology continues to improve, and many models will offer fully electric heat through well-below-zero temperatures.
Save money with rebates and low off-peak rates
BEC’s off-peak program allows you to receive a reduced electricity rate, nearly half of the standard rate. Plus, BEC offers large rebates on ASHP equipment. You can receive up to $650/ton in rebates! As ASHP will also help you limit your use of propane or natural gas, protecting you from volatile pricing and shortages. You’ll ultimately consume less and save more. That’s the value of an air-source heat pump.
