The Door logoThe Door, located in a restored 1906 home in Laporte, has been awarded the 2024 Touchstone Energy Community Award for its exceptional dedication to supporting the community. Operating as both a coffee shop and an emergency shelter, The Door uses proceeds from coffee sales to provide housing, meals, clothing, and resources for individuals in need. Recently, it expanded its mission by acquiring Laporte’s old town hall to offer additional space for families and youth activities. This recognition highlights its transformative impact on lives through compassion and community-driven initiatives.
