Our next GreenTouch event is planned for Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Lake Bemidji State Park.
We will be helping the park prepare for the 2025 season by raking leaves, picking up tree debris, trash, window cleaning, and doing some highway cleanup.
- Meet at the picnic shelter by the lake.
- Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work gloves.
- If you have a rake you like to use, please bring that with you.
- A picnic meal will be served for volunteers at 6:00 p.m.
- Persons interested in volunteering may contact Angela Lyseng at 218-444-3689 or alyseng@beltramielectric.com.
- Everyone is welcome!
- Volunteers are asked to check in at the park office for a free park permit for the day.
A statewide-cooperative, environmental and community - outreach program.
GreenTouch™, a unique cooperative program, was launched in 2000 with the inaugural GreenTouch™ state park cleanup events held on the first Saturday in May across the state of Minnesota. These events were led by Minnesota's Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives. Since then, over 10,060 individuals have generously volunteered their time to contribute their "green touch" to Minnesota's state parks, volunteering nearly 37,000 hours of their time, making a lasting impact on the parks and communities they serve.
Program Objectives:
- Promote Environmental Stewardship: Encourage our communities to take an active role in protecting and preserving the environment through hands-on involvement in various types of volunteer projects.
- Enhance Community Engagement: Facilitate opportunities for cooperative members, employees, and our communities to come together and work collaboratively towards a common goal.
- Raise Awareness of Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives: Generate positive publicity and brand recognition for Minnesota's Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives by highlighting their commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being.
- Improve Public Spaces: Enhance the quality and appeal of state parks, city parks, and other community areas through beautification, restoration, and maintenance efforts.
